In a space needs assessment project, Trestle Strategy will analyze the status quo and compare it to industry standards to find out what your facility is missing and where you can gain a competitive edge. These fact-based findings are presented to our clients and can include our own recommendation for the best course of action. Trestle can also perform a financial feasibility analysis for different options.

Phased Approach

Our team has extensive experience developing facility and space plans for complicated building types by utilizing a phased approach driven by project goals that are collaboratively established by all key stakeholders. Our experience analyzing, organizing and producing these types of plans gives our clients confidence that we can produce a comprehensive Facilities Master Plan that identifies current facility conditions, space needs, adjacencies, special requirements, and demographic trends with the correct level of detail to establish a robust and enduring plan.

Facility Assessment

The first phase typically includes site-tours, analysis, and documentation of the existing space and facilities characterization of existing workspace environments; interviews of first level supervisors, and additional staff to define goals and objectives of the project and to understand future employment growth, current deficiencies and space needs. We develop consensus among all stakeholders; identify opportunities, adjacencies and efficiencies; and create a brief summary outlining our findings.

Space Program Analysis and Recommendations

We take the information accumulated during our facility assessment and identify the size, infrastructure needs, and character of the spaces required. The analysis documents current conditions, outlines and prioritizes anticipated needs, identifies operational recommendations, considerations and site and building improvements including initial cost estimates and phasing options. A draft budget is prepared at this time to evaluate costs and identify priorities.

Road-Mapping

We map out and evaluate potential facility scenarios based on our detailed space needs assessment findings. Trestle works closely with the primary stakeholders to evaluate and analyze the strategies for improved adjacencies and operational efficiencies for a ten to twenty year timeframe. We score alternatives and identify the optimum plan. The “Preferred Strategy and Road-Map” details our recommendations and next steps for implementation. We understand that there are many moving parts considering the multiple stakeholders involved; however, all of these parts will be fully analyzed and incorporated into this comprehensive, yet streamlined, planning effort.
